JOB TITLE: Controller

REPORTS TO: CEO

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all manufacturing accounting functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile and sort financial information to establish and maintain the standard cost and perpetual inventory systems
  • Responsible for setting standards for raw material cost, labor routings and roll-ups and providing recommendations for cost efficiency
  • Leads and ensures completion of special projects regarding cost monitoring and estimating
  • Review and process sales updates for all orders invoiced daily, making sure account coding for each sales order is correct and appropriate so the entries are created properly.
  • Accounting liaison for Service Department and warranty orders in the system to allow for the accumulation of warranty expenses.
  • Prepares annual budget for manufacturing facility, reviews monthly Actual vs. Budget spending reports and discusses variances with CEO.
  • Supports plant management, attends regular management team meetings.
  • Monitors month-end Cycle Counts for inventory
  • Maintains Year-End files for Inventory, conducts Perpetual and Non-Perpetual Audits.
  • Monitors non-perpetual inventory for changes to month end quantities, determinations on changing to perpetual status.
  • Monitor inventory to determine if/when Obsolete status changes or IDR's (Inventory Disposal Requests) are needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced technical skills in accounting and GAAP.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communications to effectively communicate with co-workers, auditors, vendors, and customers.
  • Accounting software, ERP, and MS Excel knowledge at an expert level.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and written with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft Office and GoogleDrive.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively with a team.
  • Knowledge of a standard cost system including inventory costing and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of general ledger transactions and reconciliation.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate procedures and work processes and to exercise appropriate judgment in establishing priorities and work methods.

EDUCATION: A two-year accounting degree with commensurate accounting experience or a four-year accounting degree.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS: The position requires exceptional computer and calculator skills. Knowledgeable and experienced with ERP and financial systems software. Must be expert in MS Excel. Experience in designing and maintaining software systems is essential.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position
  • Ability to work in production and warehouse areas.
  • Ability to utilize computer screens, keyboard, and other office equipment.
  • Able to sit, bend, lift as needed in an office and manufacturing environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposure to conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.

WORK SCHEDULE: Standard work schedule- 8am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday. Additional days (Saturday, Sunday) overtime, and/or modified schedules may be required by production or customer needs.
