We are seeking a Controller who will be responsible the operational financial management, integration and target achievement of business processes and large internal projects for Nothum Food Processing Systems in Springfield, Missouri. With an acute focus on operations and people, the role will lead day to day activities such as financial reporting, planning and analysis, cash management, variance analysis, and driving operational performance. The Controller is responsible for planning, studying, and collecting of data and recording results; analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost. The role will lead processes such as monthly closing, S&OP, variance analysis, profitability optimization and operational forecasting and budgeting.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage monthly closing, forecasting and variance analysis. Development of the Annual Operating Plan and Working Capital Management.
  • Working closely with Operations and Sales, design and manage the SIOP process and champion business systems designed to support operational excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Oversee financial operational performance, driving cost out and providing support to senior leaders. Finding ways to make the organization more efficient is a key aspect of the daily responsibilities.
  • Oversee projects to ensure performance requirements are being met, budgets are adhered to, and resources are being optimized. This includes developing reports, communication channels and establishing a cadence of reviews to keep senior management informed.
  • Internal controls management along with Balance Sheet Reviews to ensure integrity of financials and business processes
  • Support business system and management processes and provide management with intelligence to assist in decision making. Drive cost out and process improvements throughout the organization.
  • Designs and executes operational strategies and plans to meet Company's short-term and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Maintain and promote compliance with all corporate requirements.

CRITICAL & EXPECTED JOB DUTIES

Reporting

      • Manage and oversee monthly financial statements including cash flows.
      • Analyze monthly performance including variance analysis, labor and material costing, inventory levels, raw material costs etc;
      • Support Nothum business and VP of Finance in Monthly Business Review.
      • Oversee the creation of operational budgets and rolling forecasts, coordinating the effort between accounting, operations, supply chain and HR.
      • Oversight, creation and deployment of Management, Operational, and Commercial summaries, and analysis.
      • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
      • Ad hoc Financial reporting for the Leadership Team as needed.

Financial Processes and Control Verification

      • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
      • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
      • Maintaining Cost Accounting System.
      • Establish, review and update as required documented business process procedures relating to operational financial activities.
      • Manage and oversee the Balance Sheet Reconciliation process.
      • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program.
      • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

Budgeting and Forecasting

      • Coordinate operational financial budgeting with the Nothum team.
      • Manage finance team and continuously look for process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
      • Facilitate monthly financial forecasts including the balance sheet, income statement and cash flows.
      • Conducts product line analysis for management review.
      • Maintain and update the current cost of finished goods and components.

Education and Experience

      • 8-10 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or in a manufacturing environment.
      • CPA/MBA highly preferred.
      • Strong operations and discrete manufacturing experience.
      • Experience managing direct and indirect reports.

Knowledge/Skills

      • Must be well organized and a self-starter.
      • Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
      • Ability to travel < 5%.
      • Problem solving, documentation, research and resolution, data analysis and multi-tasking aptitude.
      • Thorough knowledge of published applicable accounting and reporting standards.
      • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
      • Ability to interact and build relationships with all internal and external customers in a professional manner.
      • Ability to work independently and with a team.
      • Proven understanding of business process and reporting flows and procedures.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines Manufacturing area may involve exposure to conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.
